New RX8 Owner w/ New CEL

Hey,

I was driving today and just having a little fun and brought my 8 up to about 100mph eased off and notcied a CEL about 5 minutes later. oil/eng temp is where should be and the car seems to be running like it should. The 8 is a 04 6spd with 21,500k. Any ideas?

loose gap cap, clogged cat. The cel can be anything. More than likely its something really small

Still under warranty.. just roll it into the dealership let them look it up. Although I avoid the dealership as much as possible.. Boring as hell waiting for them and taking out the loaner is another hassle.. bleh.

... .. technically it's his 2nd post.... ..... .. i just like michael jackson, no explenation really

miskymoney - if it's a solid CEL, the issue has stopped, blinkg CEL's are a continues report of a sensor reporting a problem and you should probably pull over immedietely and shut off the engine.

FYI - nycgps is pretty ruthless.... hehehe but i hear he used to be a stripper.... so lets resume the hazing

man i didn't think it was possible to find so many related smileys! wo0t!

not everyone has a OBD or whatever the hell scanner to pull the codes.

i guess you can walk into one of those "FREE CEL READER" places, but as in alot of cases, the CEL goes off by the time you get there.

^Most autoparts stores will read the code for you for free. The ECU stores the codes until a certain amount of drive cycles has occured, or the memory was reset. Not getting the code is just laziness.

I see how my question was a little vauge. Anyways..today the light stayed on when I went to work and was off when I left to go home. I left my house and was going to school, then light came on (steady light). I took it to a service shop and they diagnosed it to have either/or a bad 02 sensor/bad 02 sensor wiring/vacumm leak (exhaust/or intake).

Has anyone had this problem? I will be reading older discussions, but guidance is appreciated.

Bad o2 sensor ? your 04 6 mt with only 21K miles ?

check and see if you still have warranty, bring it back to the dealership to let them replace the o2 sensor or anything that trigger ur cel then.

How simple.

I talked to the dealership and they said I am good until April 08. Now the problem is the light did not appear once today. Can't fix a problem that dosen't exist?

Sigh........if they had only read each post in the thread then they would've seen that is clearly spelled out above.
This sure would help us to at least start to narrow it down. Could be a simple as a misfire..or as bad as....well, you know!

Nobody listens anymore, its ok. Trying to help someone is only as good as the persons willingness to be helped.
