How many CCA is the new battery (I had heard 835)? Are the replacement plugs used for no-starts the same as those put in for the 30K service or is it a special part?

We use N3Y3-18-S30 plug set, which include RE7C-L,leading plugs. You may remember that the original leading plug was RE7A-L.

the new TSB just came out a couple of weeks ago, as usual, it goes by your vin #, but if you have an 04 you will probably qualify, it is for the starter, battery, and the "leading" plugs, again, only if your vin is within range though, just did one about an hour ago

What do the plugs look like, and do you have a part number for them?

I just had this done to mine today. I got the new battery, starter and plugs. This has finally fixed my problem. Now we will see what happens when it is cold outside in the a.m. I got no static from the service people this time, about what I wanted done, or the mods done to my car. A former dealership tried to blame every problem I had on my RB parts. They just listened to what I told them, and did it. Two other guys in our local club have had it done in the last two weeks too, at the same dealership. The same dealership that 3 months ago told me there was no such starter for the car, and told me that I was crazy thinking my car was not starting well.
All I know, is I am a happy camper now.

Some dealerships are just jerks.

I had my plugs replaced about 10k miles ago, and they were trying to blame my intake for the hard starts, stating the car was not getting enough air. Then they realized that my spark plugs were switched from the factory, trailing in leading, leading in trailing. I asked them if my exhaust was responsible for that. Needless to say, I have not been back there.

I just had my starter battery and plugs replaced today. I told the dealer how my battery goes dead when the car sits for more than two weeks and they did the recall work. I started it twice today and it cranks much faster. It starts with 1 second of cranking rather than 3 seconds of cranking before service. That difference is not due to the plugs being replaced because they just replaced the plugs when I complained about it running rough and smoking only 600 miles before this service, I was shocked to see the plugs were replaced again.

My local dealership service (who Ive had numerous prior issues with) seems to refuse to acknowledge this Service Bulletin. I just got my car back after my car flooded for the second time. It took them almost 4 days to replace spark plugs and supposedly do the recall on fuel tank and arm ball join thing. I specifically mentioned this service bulletin that required my car to have the battery, spark plugs, and starter replaced. My car was built in June 03'...... I know it falls under the necessary requirements for this service.... I get the labor and parts invoice and all they had done was change spark plugs.... needless to say Im on the phone with them and have printed this out to bring to them if necessary....

Last Friday I took mine in for an oil change and complained about it turning over very slow they replaced my battrey 640cca and ordered me the new starter and plugs. They called it a cold weather start up TSB.

Just called my next closest Mazda dealership (an hour away...ugh) and they are going to FINISH the job that should have been done to start with. They wondered why my local service dept. would not have done the job since its covered under warranty.... I was befuddeled as well. Called Mazda Noth America and they have filed and tagged the issue with the local dealership.

i'm having the same problem.. real intermittent, sometimes it plain just doesnt crank.. gets me worried because after each attempt you can tell the battery isnt liking is, at the cranks get slower..... i usually wait a min or two, then she starts.. spooky though.. no 30K car should make you sweat like that lol..
brought her in today, hopefully the techs find the updated TSB and replace the starter if that is in fact my problem...

Told my dealer what fray told me to and they replaced the battery, starter and plugs. They even gave me a loaner for the 2 hours they had my car. It starts really fast now. Sounds like a motorcycle starter.
