Newbie Question Here
Hello Everyone!
This is my first post on this board as I have only been a proud RX8 owner for only two weeks now.
I know this is a question that commonly gets a lot of flack but I have been a diehard Chevy man my entire life and the ONLY oil I have ever ran has been Mobil Full Synthetic.
I admit however that I have always loved the RX8 so I finally gave in and bought one.
My question is since the manual says that the RX8 is by design supposed to burn a little bit of oil and that a synthetic oil has a much higher burn temp. It is OK to run this oil in my car?
I'm not trying to start a "what oil is better war" on my first post but I would like to know if my old favorite is "OK" to use in my new car.

It looks like I just answered this question myself by looking at this link.

However thanks for the "warm" welcome message to your board for a first time post...

I'm no expert but from what I gather there is a problem with synthetic oils not burning properly in general, however there are a few brands that do work. Royal Purple is one of them, I just switched to that and many people have used that for many thousands of miles. I think Amsoil is another one that works, and maybe Redline (but don't take my word for those 2, only one I remember for sure is Royal Purple). But yeah, as long as you do your research, there are some synthetics that are tried and true. Pretty sure that you CANT use Mobil 1.
