No dwell change needed for LS 1 coils?

Saw something interesting today. A little while ago there was a lot of discussion about the dwell times required for the LS 1 coil. It was recommended that the dwell ne change to 5 ms--especially for the FI guys. This still holds true for max performance--but it is not absoulutely req to run the ls1 coils.
Dwell table for a 2001 Corvette (LS 1 coils) and here are the dwells---may surprise you.

14 volts:

Rpm
800 to 3.6K-- Dwell is at 3.6ms
4K------------------------------ 3.49 ms
4.4K----------------------------3.40ms
4.8K-----------------------------3.29ms
5.2 K til 8K----------------------3.20ms.

Our oems are using a dwell of 3 to 3.8ms
Looks like they can be used WITHOUT resetting the factory dwell.
Now if you want max performance out of them then yes a reset of dwell to 5ms is recommended.
Just nice to know you dont have too?

Thanks for the fast posting guys.
Ray--sorry if it sounded like I was somehow critizing your product. No intentions of doing that--i always have thought and still think it is a good set up. The "dwell drama" was a beast of its own
Dan you are right and as a matter of fact I am going to edit my opening message and not mention the yukons at all---just the LS 1's.
Just offering up some data I found that may be of use to some

Welcome to February of 2008. lol

Someone needs to create a compendium of all the resolved stuff so good folks like OD don't have to keep on reinventing the wheel every 6 months.
Oh yeah. I forgot. We are already doing that.
That is what BlackHaloRacing.com is for!

I hope to have some NA dyno comparison numbers in the future; stock vs GM coils, stock vs modified dwell on the GM coils

Be sure to specify which GM coils.

We already have the dyno numbers for the dwell change.

remind me next time we're at Steve's, this could be easily accomplished.
Assuming of course we don't destroy the dyno again.
