Oil cooler hose popped.
Hi..
So i was driving to work today on the freeway when i noticed smoke coming outta my bonnet soon as i hit the start and stop traffic. I parked the car on the side of the road and noticed oil was pouring outta the car. As I inspected I noticed the oil cooling hose for the transmission has popped.
I was wondering if this is a common problem? is it easy to fix? and is it expensive?
Thanks,
Geoff

Yeah, anyways its fixed now - no more leaks. The oil that initially leaked went all over the exhaust manifold..after 15kms of driving after the leak is fixed up...it still seems to be smoking from the bonnet.
Could it be that the oil that leaked hasn't fully evaporated?

It can take a while for oil on a hot surface to evaporate. You might try spraying it down with solvent (maybe brake cleaner) when cold ...which would then have a shorter burn-off time.
What was the failure like? Hose need to be replaced, or was it just a slip-on end that needed to be re-clamped?
Good to hear of an 8 with 130,000 miles.
