I've often had to go to my dealer with the weight of the forum ....
I still think I haven't had the starter upgrade done even thou they say I have.....
BTW ... the dealership I bought my car from is the one Mazda NA just turfed for bad business practices...

I have a latter '05 build and never had milky oil on the dipstick. But I figured the catch can was good insurance for this and also to trap what would normally be routed to the manifold intake on this model year.
I've got an 05 and most of the dudes in our local RX8 group have 04-06's
I've not heard one person mention a problem with oil in the intake.... guess we are lucky.
That all being said .. I'm going to make sure I use a funnel from now on and seriously considering the SeaFoam .... perhaps just for fun.

It's a simple matter of checking your starter serial number to confirm ...
edit: here's the old 'cranks won't start' TSB that had the Starter (and battery) info.
