Question Oil level meter ??

Hi all of you,

Does anyone know anything about a oil level meter that at the point of starting the engine indicates the oil level.

As one of the first in Belgium I can collect my car on 5 december.
My dealer told me about the opportunity of mounting such a meter who should be one original Mazda part.

regards
Patrick

I didn't know there was anything more than the standard warning light. What you describe would be a gauge or actual reading of the sump level - maybe a Mazda Europe accessory. If you have more info or a link please send. My 8 is using about 1 liter / 3500 Km so the oil doesen't need to be checked often. Congratulations on the new 8, I think you will love the braking and roadholding

The gauge that comes with the American car (in the right hand gauge pod) is not actually a gauge, but a boolean indicator, showing only if there is oil pressure or not. Sure wish it was the real thing, but it's not. Hopefully someone will come up with a mod allowing us Americans to make it a "real" gauge.

My 1954 Lagonda (Aston Martin 2/4 motor with de-tuned cams) has an oil-level gauge !

Titanium with red/black arrives in 11 days.

As did my 1984 Renault Alliance. We're not talking rocket science here. For an engine that demands scrutiny of oil level this would seem to be a no brainer. But then, I'm not an automotive engineer.

But I did sleep at a Marriott.

Hi,

Thanks for the reaction, perhaps it is a European accessory. If so and I have more info on that gauge, I'll let you know.

I don't get my 8 until next month, but there is a factory bulletin #01-027/03 that I saw at "finishlineperformance.com/rx8/" that discusses how to fix a problem with the low oil level warning light coming on when the oil level is correct, that involves removing the oil sensor assembly. This seems to suggest that the stock Renesis does have an oil LEVEL sensor. The series of VIN's that are affected are just slightly earlier than my VIN.
