Oil Light between autoX runs...
It was a hot day yesterday, anywhere from 90 to 100. I would do a run with no problems, they were 60-70 second runs (FTD was 61 raw).
After the run i went back into staging to wait for another and i found the red oil light on. I turned off the car, waited 5, checked the oil. Level was almost at the top. I remembered having it come on at the last autoX i went to, and i dumped a quart in then. It hasnt been even 1000 since my last change at the dealer.
5 Mins later i restarted and the light was gone. I did another run and after it came on again. Turned off, wait 5, restart, gone. Did another run (looked down during the run, no light) checked the light as i passed through the gate, no light, when i went to park again, no light... after idle for ~20 sec, light came on. Turned car off...
Did another run, afterward i went to park it for lunch, no lights. Checked oil, still full. Had lunch, was delicious (for a packed lunch), and then did another 3 runs with no lights at all.
So... anyone got any ideas? Cause I dont...

Don't know if it's the same thing but I noticed during the past few weeks that my oil light came on everytime I decided to take a highway on-ramp at 50-60 mph (best moment of my commute . The light always showed up about 1 minute after taking the turn. Then a few days later I cheked the dipstick and level was about 1/4 between the 2 marks, so I added one quart and that ended the issue for now.

My oil light comes on when I do open track days. Never had it come on at an autox. I always check my oil just in case but every time I have done it, the oil level was fine. I suspect when turning hard the oil moves around and the car misreads how much it has.

How many miles on the car?
On my old engine, at about 65K miles, the oil light began coming on randomly (first time it happened was during an autox school, after a run). I would have full or near-full (0.5 qt low) oil and the light would come on randomly for a few minutes (usually while parked).
It must've been a bad oil sensor. We dropped the oil pan and cleaned out the gunk on the inside, including around the sensor (my oil pan silicone seal was chipping away), but that didn't seem to fix it.
When I got the new engine w/ a new oil pan and oil level sensor, things have been fine since.
I still have a brand new OEM oil level sensor if you want it (I got that sensor right around the new engine time, so I never ended up putting it in).

I have the same issue following autocross runs. Oil light will randomly come on, and it goes off if I turn the car off and back on. I've also had it do it in spirited driving. Oil level was above the mid-way point on the dipstick all of those times.
I figured it was either the oil being thrown around or a failing/crappy sensor. I'll just ignore it as long as it doesn't give me trouble daily.

Well im sorry to hear other people have the problem, if it is a problem.
But glad so far that noone has any problems.
Even though my level was near the top, i poured maybe 1/3 of a quart in, and the light didnt come on for my last 3 runs of sunday, even though it had come on during saturday runs and the first few of sunday. It must be a sensor thing, car runs like the day i bought it (brand new).
