Oil In My Air Filter...

I just purchased a 4 year old RX-8 about 5 months ago. Went to go get a oil change after 8,000 clicks and the mechanic noticed that my air filter was full of oil. Later on that day I took it out and half of the filter was pretty much fool of oil. I went to the dealership so they could take a look at it and they told me it was normal. The guy was like... "i have a RX-8 too and i have that same problem, all you have to do is get a new filter." I don't know about you guys but air filters are exactly that, not oil filters. I thought it could have been a loose apex seal that lets oil into the mix while the engine is running which means I would need a re-build. I thought that maybe they didn't want to re-build it because it was under extended warranty, i don't know i've been warned about dealers and mechanics. The guy at the dealership said its a high rmp engine (obviously), and it spits out oil when you rev it, depending on how you drive it. I dont race or anything so I don't get it. Any piece of advice? Everyone go check their air filters please if you have an RX-8 and let me know what you find. If you don't know how... here!

It's true, at high rpms the car basiclly spits out oil thru the hose connected to the intake.
I have the K&N Typhoon II set up, it's best to switch to an aftermarket intake, it will be a lot easier to clean than messing with the OEM. You dont have to keeo buying a new one everytime oil kicks in.
At first when I bought mine I also experienced this, it's normal, and again like mostly other say, it will depend of the way the car is driven...

this can happen on early cars. Mazda changed the breather system to help alleviate this and another issue
its usually from over filling print this tsb
http://www.finishlineperformance.com...50-06-1664.pdf
and show it to the idiot who said it was normal to have oil in your airbox.
also tell him to call the tech line and ask if its "normal"
also ask him what happens when oil from an aftermarket oiled K&N airfilter gets on the MAF sensor.
clean your MAF
