Actually I'm having an issue with my ground point and I am getting an intermittent error code. I was lazy and grounded to the bolt that holds the shifter down because I didn't have a quick splice small enough to attach to the ground on the cigarette lighter. I used the positive on the cigarette lighter for 12v. This weekend I will re-ground it to the cigarette lighter's ground.

Also, the end of the sensor doesn't spin so remember to screw it into the prosport adapter before running it through the firewall. I will also be running a copper wire wrapped around the metal sheathing on the sensor wire to a ground because the tech said it will help reduce noise and give more accurate readings. The Tech support was great when I called about the error code I was getting.
install sensor first- check. thanks for letting me know.

can you give me more details on "running a copper wire wrapped around the metal sheathing on the sensor wire to a ground"- I don't quite get this part...
And why is there noise? Does the temp unit emit noises???

I guess maybe because its mounted right under the radio but I did it temporarily and it seems to have fixed the issue. basically you just take a strand of copper wire and wrap it around the sensor wire and run that copper wire to the back of the gauge in the same spot where the sensor wires attach to the rear of the gauge. This is common on sending units as I know some of the prosport gauges have required this as well.

If you don't get it I will post pics this weekend.

Neat...well done 9K...I like it...

Let me guess.... it takes about 20-25 minutes of driving until Oil reaches 'normal' temp..depends on outside temps too.

Yep, I took the long way to work and stopped at the drive through to get breakfast and by the time I go to work my oil was barely at 170F. This was with an outside ambient temp of about 50F. Even though the temp drops at night once the sun comes up ambient temps rise very quickly.

Nice mod! I use my OBD-II and a built-in computer to get my temperatures.. Which do you think is more accurate? Also, whats the average running coolant and oil temp's on our 8?? I get up to around 195-208 on average..

Thanks, I use my Scangauge II for everything except Oil pressure and Oil temperature. My coolant temps are usually between 180-210 here in south Texas ans once got to 230 during a hard several mile cruise through the hills. My oil temps have not gotten above 185 since I have been measuring oil temps.

Wow, that is way too high...(230)...

If your fans are a bit slow to come on, I note if you turn on your Air (if not on) you will get quick Coolant Temp relief. Have you noticed this?, I would personally take the cabin heat rather than continually run my air on if coolant temps get too high..

Hey ASH8, I was actually mistaken, I was talking about coolant temp.. But those are my readings up here in Boston, where it gets pretty cold! So that seems a little high too.. It fluctuates alot though so sometimes itll be really high and others alot lower.. I DONT however use the OBD for oil monitoring.. I just go with the dipstick and fill her up when she needs it..

Yeah the coolant temp got to 230 during a hard series of hills/curves and we were really moving but at slow speeds and as soon as we got the speed up the temps dropped quickly. Also this was in 100F weather.

9kprmrx8, the link that you posted with the rtd sensor is the one with the 2 inch probe, right?
How did you get it to fit in the prosport sandwich plate?

edit:
nvm- i saw the picture you posted and you linked the wrong pt100 unit!!!

I'm going to have to call aubrins and see if I could send the 2in probe unit and get the shorter one without paying too much shipping...

make sure you correct that link so others don't buy the wrong sending unit~!!!

Ah hah, I didn't set any of the alarm stuff up. I'm constantly glancing at the gauge so I really don't see a need for it but I may play with it soon and when I do I will let you know.

Okay guys, I figured out some stuff out today and discovered some things.

I was getting an intermittent error code on the gauge and so today I removed the sending unit from my Prosport oil filter adapter and realized that the probe on the sensor for this gauge is too shirt to go into the front port on the adapter. The Prosport oil filter adapter has four ports available on it so I put it in the side (less metal to go through) and the probe intrudes all the way through. So I drove home 150 miles from my parents and the error code was gone!!!

Trustbuddy, install the sensor in the side of the adapter plate

My oil temps were the same so it doesn't affect the gauge in that aspect but I guess it needs to be fully exposed to the oil to work flawlessly.

Also, i was talking to customer service at Auber and i also found out that with the right sending unit this gauge can read both oil pressure and oil temperature at the same time but you have to switch manually between the two setting to see the readings. Kind of a pain but nice to know if you don't want multiple gauges (and wanna save money) and just want to check the different readings every now and then.

Yeah you have to change the setting to switch between the two gauges. Just email Auber, they can explain it.
