Why, has anyone told you there might be a problem?
No.

Has anyone (Mazda, GM, Maserati, anyone) ever stated, in writing, "don't mix different brands"?
No.

Has anyone with any experience in oil formulation and marketing, ever written "Do Not Mix Oils"?
No.

We aren't dealing with black magic or some dim superstition folks, it's just oil - why make it more dramatic than it is?

the reason I say no is.... Why mix?

It's just as easy to buy the same oil you are using.

Oops! on your way to Vegas and forgot your normal oil brand no big deal.

You can pretty much find what you are using anywhere so why mix?

Go for it, I even mix viscosities when I'm super lazy. 5w20, 10w30, 10w40

A) maybe they ran out of the brand/grade you want to use. (happened to me, its no big deal. just bought something else)
B) maybe wanna use what he had left over, and was concerned if it'll affect anything if its mixing synthetic with dino.

so that being the case, there are absolutely no problems with mixing oils. if you mix synthetic with conventional... it'll just come out to be a semi-synthetic.
oh well... no big deal, they sell those for 1/2 the price of full synthetics.

so, yeah, its safe to mix.
just don't go overboard...which i think is razz1's concern. don't go and buy all and mix everthing like its baskin robbins 31 flavors.

you realize when you do an oil change there is still oil in the engine and oil coolers, so by switching oils brands/viscosity at an oil change you are essentially "mixing" oils...its not that big a deal...ive done it 3-4 times already

if there is a problem with mixing oils.

I think we all would have to use Factory oil, since thats the original stuff that came with the car.

make sense ?

So just use any oil you want, as long as its not something like Mazola and Olive Oil mix.

They once mixed Baking soda with Cocaine and when they cooked it crack was born. So mixing things may bring good things into the world as stated above.

However, although you bought the Mobil, you had not used it. The car didn't have Mobil coming from the factory. So I don't know what the fact you bought Mobil has to do with the fact your dad put in Castrol. You just had to give us that little extra info, didn't you?

Don't know where the hell that came from but, yes, we would like to hear more about your life.

You'll be fine, dont' worry. after an oil change or two, most of the oil will be the same brand.

Just add the oil while someone else is vacuuming the interior as a distraction. That way your car won't know. And what it doesn't know can't hurt it.

the point is that, no matter how many times Bill Gates gave his cash out, he is still one of the richest man on earth.

I like Oprah too, no offense but I dont think thats something Oprah can do (giving all cash away part)

Bill Gates ! father ! where are you !
