Once again regarding the fan when engine is hot
There were several threads about people being worried / curious when they shut off their engine and the fan kept running.
Now, I hate to bring this topic up yet again, but my car does exactly the opposite. When I park with a hot engine, in really hot weather, I hear the fans running, but as soon as I turn off the engine, the fans stop after about two seconds.
I would actually like the fans to keep running so that the engine bay cools off sooner instead of cooking in the garage with the stopped fan, but it doesn't do that, contrary what others reported.
The interesting things is that as soon as I turn the key back to the "ignition" position (without starting the engine), the fan is on again, but it stops even if I turn the key to "accessory", don't even have to turn it to "off".
So is there any way to keep the fan running with they key off if needed? I noticed that if I leave the key in "ignition" so the fan is running, it does stop after a while, so that part is fine. I guess I should find a power source that's always on (even if the key is out of the ignition) and feed the fan with that, but I'm not sure if:
- this is a good idea at all
- what my car does is normal
- whether there is a good power source in the engine bay for this.

Actually all you need to do is ground the fan relays and they turn the fans on I made a little pigtail that I attach to a ground when I want the fans on full time...
You could easily run a switch to the cockpit as well..
Need to have the key on for this though....

when you turn the key to on (engine not start yet), the computer will follow "regular" fan on temperature which is 97(low speed) and 103(high speed) Celsius stock.
when your car is off (ignition at off), your thermostat's temp (the thermometer is around there) has to be over 103 or 105 or higher Celsius I forgot exactly what it was, then it will turn the fan on.

I think that may be normal.
On hot days when my engine is hot [after hard driving] I can hear my fan when I park but when I turn the car off the fan stops for a few seconds [sometimes as many as 30] and then it will kick back on "full blast".
Have you just stood there for about a minute to see if it comes back on?

I still would prefer if it would cool itself even if the coolant temperature is just 96 Celsius, so I guess I should be OK.
I mean, the temperature I saw on my ScanGaugeII for the coolant was below the 97 degrees the fans should kick in. Oh well.

Yes, I have... but my climate is not as hot as the one in Hotlanta, so the fan never kicked in again - I guess it never reached the temperature nycgps mentioned

but Electronic fan does not pull as much air as belt/clutch based fan ... so I guess to get something u gotta compromise something ...
oh and yes, it is normal for fans to go on after hard driving.
