Question Opening trunk while engine running

I'm not sure if i'm the only one having this problem.
While i have my 8 started, i had to open up the trunk...
But the remote control doesn't work and I had to turn the engine off (did not have extra key at the time) and open.
Yeah, if you turn the engine off, the remote works.
Is this something Mazda did for safety? It's pretty sux cuz I may have to turn the engine off while it's cold and it could be flooded.

I would actually prefer it this way because the remote is on a keychain dangling from the ignition and can easily be pressed while my leg moves around.

You can do it -- (1) In glove box, there is on/off switch for trunk release; make sure it is "on" (2) On lower left of dash (left of steering wheel), there is a small push-to-release rectangular button with a picture of the trunk opening up. I had same issue this past weekend!
