passanger seat rails.. HOT bolt

i know i just posted a new thread regarding something else, but they are completely different so i am just trying to get a simple answer out of this. when i go for a decently long drive. say more than 30-45 minutes, the bolt that hold down the rails for the passanger seat gets extremely hot. the bolt is on the left screwed into the floor somewhat adjacent to the shifter. does anybody else have this problem, it has left burn marks on my girlfriends foot a few times and it too hot to touch for more than 2-3 seconds.

i have searched images and by the looks of it there is a heat shield above the cat, do you think its possible for it to be missing? or is this a common problem... seems a little dangerous!

Mine gets hot too, maybe you could rig up a shield of some sort for her?

I bet this is one reason the 09 models have a bigger and better heat shield in that area.

It's one of the reason I don't drive my car if the weather's +90 outside. The temperature in the cabin gets really hot! I saw and read somewhere that it was recalled to replace the heat shield; even the mechanic who replaced my clutch last month did mention that the transmission needed more insulation.

ok cool, well then i will not worry so much, i figured there was very little room for the transmission already seeing that there is a huge bulge in the passanger foot well. so i was just assuming something was radiating a lot off heat, although my girlfriend said it is nice in the winter because the water from the snow melts really fast and it keeps her feet warm!!

its not the trans that gives off the most heat--its the closest of the cat/exhaust pipe.
Just get a cat heat shield from summit racing (or others) and most of that heat will be gone + it will be MUCH better for the trans.

I was experiencing the exact same issue. I found out I had a bad cat and got it replaced under the emissions warranty last week and no more hot seat rails!
