Basically I'm just trying to find out the differences between driver and passenger side engine/motor mounts. Visually they appear the same while connected to the car but I haven't been able to test fitment of the driver side mount on the passenger side bracket.

A parts dealer told me they were not compatible(different part numbers), but could not supply a reason as to why or how they are actually different.

Backstory: Totaled my previous 8(over-steer into a guardrail), and bought a newer 2008 model. However, the passenger side motor mount is ruined. Passenger side is also ruined on the previous 8 but the driver side mount on old 8 should still be good. I want to know if that will work on the passenger side of the newer car.

The mounting holes where the engine mount attaches to the subframe are different sizes front to rear. You can enlarge the smaller hole to make it fit the opposite side of the car.

 

^^Outside of the holes, they are exactly the same. I'm using a passenger side mount on my driver side with no problems. I just enlarged the smaller hole slightly with a drill, and all is well.
