Pep boys sucks!!!!
so ive been getting some misfires lately and decided i would change my plugs. the plugs i had in only had 21k on them and were installed by pepboys. this time i decided to do it myself and while taking the old ones out i noticed pep boys put the leading plug in the trailing spot and vice versa on my front rotor, i couldnt belive it, how f*&^ing hard is it to put the letter "T" plug in the "T" spot....wtf. how lazy are they.....im just in disbelief....if they can mess something so simple up then imagine what else they have f*&^ed up and broken people cars w/o them knowing....![Banghead](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/banghead.gif)
![Banghead](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/banghead.gif)
im just having a real hard time with there laziness .....un-F*&^ING believable!!!!![Icon No2](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/icon_no2.gif)
do you think the plugs being backwards could start to cause misfiring or loss of power?

Pep boys = Satan

I feel your pain. Do not go to pep boys ever under any circumstances. They hire people who truly do not care about their trade.
I used to own a 99 Ford Contour with a CNG tank in the trunk. (CNG = compressed natural gas, it was a caltrans car bought at auction) You could use 87 regular or CNG, i hardly ever used the CNG.
Anyhow, I took it into pepboys because of overheating. They had me sit there for over an hour waiting for them to drive it onto the lift. As soon as it hit the lift, they drove it back to me within 60 seconds.
The service dude climbed out with a sour look on his face and said
"this is a CNG vehicle, we can't work on these. It has a bad head gasket and we don't have the right tools. Only a ford dealer can work on these."
Took it to another mechanic and they had it fixed by the end of the day. Problem was simply a broken thermostat.
Even if Pep Boys didn't have the right tools to break open the head gasket, it wouldn't have hurt them to at least spend the time on a correct diagnosis and/or not treat me like an *******. They also could have fixed my problem and conducted some business.

Thats why mazda charges 100+/hr for labor and pep boys charges 30 lol
Also why I work on my own car unless its warranty
In all seriousness though, if it did cause any issues, you may be able to hold them accountable for them... good luck

What do you expect from a chain store. Do you expect the $99 special at Maaco is going to be good too?
when it comes to cars, there are 3 things you can do:
1. Do it yourself
2. Have a local mechanic you trust and have a good relationship with do it
3. Have the dealer do it
This is in order of cheapest to most expensive

most pep boys tell me they wouldn't even work on rotary mazdas... even if they do, i wouldn't let them touch my car. the only cars one should let them work on are domestic trucks

I never ever wanna let Pepboys to work on my car cuz I had a feeling that 99.99% of the time its going to suck.
Until one day ... sometime last spring (2008) I think. one of my tires (rear right) had a nail in it, I can even see it, but it was 6 pm already the usual tire place I go to is already closed. and I have to go somewhere far the next morning, I was like ahh wth just let Pepboys try it, guess how they repair it? they use those ******* cheap plastic stick thinggy that looks like those candy worms, put glue around it and just stick it in a call it a day and ******* charged me 25 bux ... I was like. WOW. U fuxking ********, do u guys even know the "proper" way to repair a SPEED RATED tire ? Do u guys even know there is a standard for it? jesus christ. this aint some cheap ******* 50 bux a pop tires u know. my god.
So I drive it slowly the next morning ... cuz I afraid that **** might fly out ... then the afternoon I went to the tire place right away and patch it up "properly."(unmount it, clean inside, put glue and use the proper patch that sticks out, and on the outside put another patch and glue, remount, rebalance)the guy there was like "how the fuxk would they do that? these **** dont last. and they fly out in a couple of weeks. especially on a sports car, they drive faster than those grandma's they trick all the time. ****"
so yeah in conclusion, dont go pepboys for ANY auto work. go there only if there is some 10 bux off every 30 bux deal, like the one I post a while ago.

Off to PB to stock up on oil ...

I'm surprised that your pepboys has plugs for RX-8. Generic brands (such as autolite and bosch) don't make these.
NGK and Densol are the only ones I know, even though some auto part places carries NGK, they don't have RE plugs in stock.

The people at pep probablly did not realize that there was a trailing/leading plug or that they needed to be placed in the correct spots. 99% of people that are hired in pep boys/goodyear and so on have never seen a rotary engine. I go to Good Year to get my oil change and things like that. Only for one reason. My brother works there and when his manager leaves, I get to use the lift and get my oil change for $10. I bring a filter, talk to my brother and other employees, make sure my brother is doing everything right(why do labor if you can supervise hehe) and I'm on my way.
I would never go to these places unless I have to. Even then, I get out of my car and watch everything. I have stopped people from trying to remove my oil filter because they had the wrench and 3 different extensions trying to get the right angle. I was afraid they would break something so I stuck my arm in and took it off.(This was at valvoline. It was snowing and I need an oil change and my brother was busy. I lol'ed when they told me I had a blown gasket since there was condensation on the dipstick. I lol'ed even more when I ask the guy to get a metric adjustable wrench and he looked for one.)

Comeon guys, the rotor head working for Pepboys probably just got turned around under the car, and forgot which way the rotor spun. He thought he did it right, that counts for something!
