Performance mods that dont void warranty?

Whats up. Just bought my 05 Rx8 a few months ago. Love the thing but am thinking about adding some mods. Its only got 9k miles on it and I have a 60k mile / 5 year warranty that i dont wanna void. anyone know of any mods that wont void this warranty. The only thing i have on it now are lambo doors but id liek to get it goin a little bit faster. I mean it handles great but i feel like it not torkey enough in the lower RPM. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Without adding a significant amount of air at low rpms you won't increase torque. Plain and simple. Best option to increase the low end is a light weight flywheel.

Welcome to the club, your question is a common one. If you do an advanced, title only search for the word 'VOID' you will find a few threads that will help.

Mods only void your warranty if it causes the originating problem in your car. Say a mod does cause the damage it can never really void your whole warranty it just voids the part that was broken.

FYI Law mandates the dealers must prove the Aftermarket MOD caused the defect. The onus lies on them not you.

If you have the money to do the only thing that will increase low end dramatically, forced induction, voiding the warranty isn't that big of a deal.

...or you can always just take the mods off before you bring it in.

Make sure you change the oil and keep it filled. Check it every two fillups!

Please get acquainted with the Moss-Magnussen Act.

A corollary to this is how much hassle you get per each individual mod is directly related to your dealership's attitude.

People bring up the Moss-Magnussen Act all the time on car boards but has there been a case where a dealer denied a repair and the owner printed out the Act showed it to them and the dealer said "Opps, my bad we will fix your car"? This LINK explains it from a business point of view and people need to be prepared to pay out of pocket for the repair, and fight for reimbursement later. In this case that fight can end up in Federal court since the Act is Federal law.

Before a dispute would get to that point the dealer has to try and mediate the dispute. The dealer would go in front a bunch of lay people and say for example your Intake changed the way the car ran which lead to xyz problem. Now if the MOD didn't change something on the car why would you install it? That leads to you having to prove that the change you made didn't cause the problem. How well you do in mediation also depends on what the dealer is claiming. For example a Intake would have no impact in a transmission issue but can an engine.

dealers and warranties....someone should write a horror novel about that, i bet it would be a best seller........i think in my lifetime i have heard about 40 people claim that dealers never cover anything while car is under warranty.....so whats the point of having a warranty???......BMW has best warranties they even do you oil changes free for first 2 years, all maintenance free (now thats good if you drive 100k miles in two years)

Well the bimmer service and warranty aren't really free. Technically they're included in the purchase price mark up, at least if the accountants are paying attention.

In a sense all warranties are imbedded in the purchase price, where each original buyer pays a fraction of future est. warranty covered repairs for the total buyer population. In a sense (meaning not literally from an accounting POV) these warranty $'s are included in the sales price, then subtracted from Sales Revenue, and "collected" as a liability on the manufactuers balance sheet. So you paid for it, you should get it as long as you have not violated the terms.

NOTHING IS FREE!

BTW - not totally sure but if you drive 100K in 2 yrs, most likely you've blown out your Bimmer warranty coverage.

Man I'm bored...I think someone already covered this in prior posts about warranties.
