Welcome!

When you buy a used car first thing should be an oil change (especially with this car). 5W-30 NOT 5W-20. Could be you have a loose or incorrect sized oil filter, loose drain plug, no drain plug crush washer (replace at EVERY oil change). If this doesn't clear it up you must still be under warranty so take it in.

Also, put your location in your name/avatar section. Helps other members: diagnose, recommend a dealer, meet up, etc.

If the oil was changed it may be from that. The oil tends to collect in a little pocket near the filter on the top of the engine. Soaking it up with a rag may help but other than that it would be a warranty issue.

The dealer replaced the oil pan gasket on my 2005 due to a small leak. Jack that car up of drive it onto a curb and check to see where it's coming from. The oil pan gasket was a TSB - I think.... Also check that the filter is on tight enough. Luckily, you can nearly always find a way to track an oil leak on a relatively new car - follow the brown trail.

Probably just from a recent oil change then.

hey bros.....ok well after owning my 8 for only a week....I had to drop it off at jim click mazda to get the oil leak checked out and my passenger door handle was almost falling off...besides that it turns out that NO recalls were ever fixed on my ride...so I am without it for at least 3 business days because the service fukin sucks! At least I am getting a rental car but its a chevy gocart (cobalt)....I also had a couple of other problems that I mentioned but the lady must've been on the rag because she said nope that is not covered under warranty...and oh sir we will probably have to do an oil change for you anyways which is $40...BUT we didn't determine what the problem with the oil leak was anyways...if they do an oil change I will question as to why what was the problem....and then if it was just a loose oil filter, I will say why didn't you just tighten it then rather then try and charge me for the oil change....oh well I miss my car I love the 8 so much....sorry for the rant...just pissed off is all
