Plugs, Wires, and Coils oh my!

I have some related questions to my spark plugs and coils and other things. My 07' manual 6speed RX8 recently started loosing power when I was shifting in the low gears so from 1st to 3rd my car felt like it was trying to "pull", per say, a very heavy load. After 3rd, it leveled out alright but still noticable diffrence in power. To add to this, my engine is making a harder, more throatier sound whenever I apply the gas. It is also rather a b***h to cold start the car. I have no clue since the last time my ignition coils were replaced but the battery is brand spanking new. A fellow poster suggested that I replace my Ignition coils, plug wires and plugs (Im still confused by plugs, meaning spark plugs or some other type of plugs?). Do you agree with this? Any other things I should do? and what specific type of Items am I going to need to replace the coils, plugs, and wires?

I am going to go with the Black Halo Racing ignition BHR Ignition System | Black Halo Racing once I get the cash, its pricey but I haven't heard anyone that didn't recommend it as an upgrade for the RX.

the ignition systems are a weak point in these cars, so unless you have service records its not a bad idea to replace everything.
i personally like the OEM parts, although you should shop around.
if you want to go the inexpensive way, the plug wires can be checked with a multimeter, they should be between 1K-4K ohm's of resistance, and they should securely stay on the spark plug.
the coils can be checked with a timing light. if you have 1 bad one, and don't find a bad plug wire, or plug, then it might just be best to replace all four. keep the other 3, they might be handy later.
there is a check in the book for the plugs, but they should just be replaced

i bought the BWD coils for $28 each at pep boys. the coils are aftermarket, but since the the OEM coils aren't that great, i figured it was worth it.
pep boys also lost them the first two times they ordered it.

If you can check your ecu codes, look for misfires. I had this recently, and your description of how your car is running sounds very close to what mine was doing. Turns out that my spark plugs were in terrible shape.
I replaced the ignition coils, spark plugs, & wires with parts from advance auto. It cost around $220 shipped with their Black Friday discount. The car now runs great. It is also getting about 3 mpg better than before and drives better overall.

Mine was the exact same thing, seemed sluggish, and harsher throatier sound. Turns out my cat was dead, plugs were fouled, and plug wires were corroded. I had replaced the plugs only 20K ago. Ended up replacing plugs, wires, cat, and a decarb of the engine. Now it's like a new car!! Amazingly smooth, sounds normal, and all the power is back.
