Possible New recall

Called in to make an appointment to get the m flash and the tech told me to hold off as withing the next 2 weeks I should be receiving a recall letter to fix hard starts. At that time new flashes will be given.

Anyone hear about this? Or was that a bs attempt to get rid of me?

Thanks!

I believe it's already out there as of today, the "campaign":

I had my car in to Mazda this week to have light flywheel installed. I have become friendly with the service manager and he told me that he knew that an M flash was available and was going to flash my car when he saw a recent recall to reflash all 8's to the M flash.
I have noticed that my exhaust tips have remained much cleaner. less black soot than in the past. My imagination ?

Funny you should mention less soot on exhaust tips....I had my car in last week for the 15,000 mile service and when I got it back, I noticed it was a bit more responsive in performance. I just thought it was the benefit of the service. However yesterday when I was approaching my car after work to go home, I noticed the exhaust tips have a lot less soot on them. I had washed the car on Tuesday and as I always do, I wipe the exhaust tips clean. Usually within a few days the soot is back. They have hardly any soot on them at all now which is not the way they normally are (have been).

I did not request an ECU upgrade but they must have done it anyways as part of the service. This is fine because the car is running better than ever, and there is definitely less soot on the exhaust tips now.

310Guy

I'm in the Inland Empire, and I got my car serviced at Romero Motors in Ontario. It's right next to the 15 Fwy just below the 10 Fwy in the Ontario Auto Mall.

Hmmph! I have noticed no change in soot on the exhaust tips since I got the M flash.

Oh well.

The "M" will not adjust A/F as much as the "L" did. The latest is actually focused on the hard start/flooding issue.

This is not a "recall" since it was never addressed or mandated by the NTSB.

Mazda has three catagories of VIN driven repairs.

Recall,SSP and now MSP.

The MSP is strictly voluntary on their part where as the other two have some NTSB relationship.

I seriously doubt Mz will ever mail any type of notification to the owners. I'm sure this was made a MSP to help the owners that were having Dealer issues to get the "M" flash easier.

IMHO

Edit...this was announced last week so the Dealers should have it already. It will show up when your VIN is run at the dealer.

I hope you are correct since I had my "M" flash done on 5/26 (got the sticker). I'd hate to have to go back again for yet another update in less that 2 weeks.

The sticker should read "per MSP04"

Fairway Mz should start putting the new info.
