Possible overheating?

Today I got my car back together and while driving it around, I noticed my Interceptor water temp gauge showing a high temp at idle. It went up to 104deg C (or 220 deg F), but it comes back down to ~92deg C once I get up to speed. I'm not sure what the typical operating temp of the Renesis is, but the Interceptor status window was flashing red and indicating high water temp whenever it went above 100deg C. This was kind of concerning, but my stock gauge was still less than halfway and the fans had not yet even kicked in yet. Can anyone shed some light on this? What is considered an acceptable temp at idle?

Mine idles and runs at 82C most of the time...at 104C the cooling fans should be on full blast I believe.......are the fan relays OK?

From an earlier post....

Both cooling fans run together. The are controlled by three relays which receive a signal from the PCM. Relay one controls low speed fan operation. If all three relays are engaged, the fans run at high speed.

The fans run at high speed if the coolant temp is 213deg or more, or if the coolant temp is less than 213deg and the A/C is switched on. They'll also run at high speed after the ignition is switched off if the coolant is at high temp or the underhood temp is high.
Sounds like you have a relay problem. We've seen it here before.

Well, Adrian has informed me that his Interceptor also reads high water temps, but he has a set of Defi gauges installed and they show normal water temps around 88deg C. So it looks like the Interceptor water temp gauge may not be accurate. Can any other Interceptor owners confirm this?

110 degree C is danger zone.
