Possible replacement solution to oxidized/hazy headlight lens?

I was checking out HIDplanet, a forum renown for projector light retrofitting. I found someone's thread to form and made a mold clear acrylic headlight lenses. Though the work may be intricate and tedious, the results look decent. At least better than the typical faded yellow and cracking RX-8 headlight lens.

The edges where it meets the housing may not be perfect, but it is hidden by the bumper and the hood. Can also be trimmed and siliconed back to place.

Could work on the rear taillights for those who wants it tinted instead of spray painting or using a tint film

doing that method requires thin sheeting, which would probably deform quickly in front of HIDs and in hot weather. might look good initially but i really doubt it will last more than 1 season.

Usually a pro restoration service can recover the clear finish on even the worst looking headlight lens cover without replacing it. The lenses on my Ridgeline truck were absolutely horrible after 200,000 miles; dark yellow, dull, and could not see through them. I swore they could not be restored, but the service guy guaranteed it or my money back so I said OK. A $60 repolish & seal job later and they both looked like brand new. A year later they still do.
