Have been working with a shop here who keep having medium mileage rx8s coming in with this same issue . The problem is prevalent on 4 speed automatics ,that use cruise control, in particular.
He has been fixing it by premixing at 100:1 but came to me to look at a better solution. I noticed that one cell in particular looks very low (3000rpm at 38% load).
But even those around it which correspond to cruise loads/rpm seem too low - note the highlighted cells:
Am working on a map that addresses this without increasing oil consumption drastically . Will post it up once we have a confirmed cure to the issue.
Update : It seems the issue was not the map . It is due to the oil injector nozzles clogging up .
The question becomes then .... why is this issue so prevalent on AT rx8s and not MT .
The conclusion we came to is that ..
1/the auto cruises at lower rpm than the manual and is therefore under less load . At lower rpms the engine and injectors will carbon up much quicker .
2/Auto owners are a different buyer than your average manual owner . They treat the car differently and are (perhaps) not as vigilant servicing wise .
I still see that omp map as suspect at 2500 and 3000 and 38% load so would suggest those points in particular are increased .
