Power Loss , Intake noise

my rx8 hasnt been running right. once it gets warm it loses power. where eventually if i give it gas it hardly speeds up so i gear down and it still barely increases speed. once i get to like 6000 rpm the intake , i think the intake, starts to make this weird noise like it cant get air through or something. got the cat checked and a back pressure test so its fine. what else might cause this problem. plugs , wires , coils?

How did they check the cat? A lot of the time when you ask a dealer to check it they will check for any stored codes and if there are none then they deem the cat fine. If they actually unbolted it and took a look inside that would be another story.

When was the last time you replaced your plugs, coils, and wires?

Also, have you ever had a compression test done? You mentioned when it gets warm it loses power, what happens if you turn the car off when its warm and immediately try to restart it?

they pulled it off and took a look inside and they did a back pressure test which saids its right where it should be. last time the plugs wires and coils was like 92 000kms and im at 110 000 now. when it gets warm and loses power if i shut it off and re start it sputters to start and then half the time it will run okay and the other half still like ****. usually rough idle. ill reply later with how it runs exactly to day on my to and from school.

the noise from the intake or the front of the car is very wierd too if you have any ideas about that. ive cleaned the maf too.

compression test, fuel pump and then a new engine.
That's how it's going to go... if the cat is really working.

Got to school , runs fine for half my drive than it has the power loss where it hardly gains speed in whatever gear and at like 6000 rpm it has the noise . Shut car off started it had a rough idle for a couple mins . If I drove the car right after it would still run like **** . In a couple hours when I drive it it will be fine tho .

Why the fuel pump what is malfunctioning?

there's a host of threads that describes fuel pump issues.

In your case it looks like compression though. Have fun with a new engine!
