Has anyone had a problem with the steering column in their cars? just a week ago, i turned on the car, and it felt like i had not power assisted steering, handling was very sluggish, and then the steering column light came on, does anyone have any suggestions? thanks.

 

To quote the owner's manual

"If this light illuminates while driving, it indicates a malfunction of the power
steering system. Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer."

Sounds like a malfunction of the electronic power assist. Suggest you take it to the dealer ASAP.

 

Mine comes and goes all the time. This weekend I had PS all the time. They have replaced the rack, module etc. and it doesn't help. Mazda also said that they wouldn't warranty it any longer because my car is lowered. That's funny though because my car has been lowered since the 2nd week I owned it and they have replaced all of the power sterring components and I sill have the problem.

Go figure.

 

I have the problem since june 28 2005, my car they changed module,sensors,wiring hardness,rack and pinion,computers,everything and the problem continue, I think they soon go to change doors,trunk,windshield, because they have my car since june.

 

Not meaning to go off-topic, but sounds like you are a good candidate for exchanging your car for a new one under your state's lemon law.

 

I know I fight with that right now ,how many millage you have in your car when started the problem
