Power Steering is locked! Help.

Yesterday my power steering locked while i was going through a POLLO LOCO. I was in the middle of the drive through and i thought my car had turned off because my power steering locked but it didnt, my car was still on and the little Steering wheel light was on. Whats sup with that?? Its still on right now. Anoyone know why this would be? Funny thing is that yesterday i took my car into the dealer to get my taillamp replaced and the manager there also owns a fiirst GEN rx8 and i remember him at that time saying that his power steering had locked up also. So whats sup with this?

This has been answered many times on here.

The connectors for the power steering are below the air filter box. Remove the air box. Below the air box is a support tray. Remove the tray. Now you have access to the power steering connectors. There are 2.

yeah the overflow from the coolant goes right down on the power steeering lines so if you overflow it could def mess stuff....if ur in warranty i'd take it there and not even worry about it

I had the same power steering problem. The way I solved my problem was by accident. Change the car battery to a stronger voltage. Then drive as normal to see if the problem comes up again. Also rumor has it if you change the powering steering fluid to Lucas brand it's a good start... Reply back with some results. Catch you next time!

Lets see if this works lol
Turn your key to the on position. Turn the wheel all the way to the left then all the way to the right then back to center. See what happens.

I believe max5roadster was referring to your statement about power steering fluid... since we don't use fluid (power steering is electric).

I can answer here because I have solved my power steering issue by splicing the power and torque sensor harness wires above the radiator.

He is saying why would you recommend something that you have not tried yourself and if you would of even tried to change the power steering fluid you'd realize its electric.......
