premix motor faliure

how many have had a motor fail while premixing?

if you have.

how many miles?
auto or manual?
year?
flash?
syn or dino in oil pan?
type of oil used for premix?
issues with fuel pump?
how many oz per tank?
how many oz per tank at a track day?

Awesome thread swoope, I have been curious to know how many people have blown their motors with pre-mix.

I'm willing to say there's next to none.

The cause and effect relationship will not be established by any answers provided here.
Too many variables, not least of which is the level of mechanical empathy that a pre-mixer might possess that might otherwise be missing in other owners.

True, for the same reasons we cannot look at one or two rotary teardowns and conclude if you do X your motor will last longer or will fail sooner.

From a basic standpoint, I'd be interested for anyone who has premixed that has had a motor replaced because of a loss of compression. Sure again there are a lot of factors to contribute to seal failure, but lack of lubrication seems to have been a major reason in the past.

There's been a lot of arguments claiming that pre-mixing is just a fantasy tactic and that Mazda designed the OMP to be self contained and needing no additional service other than checking your oil.

Yep, I'd settle for any N/A motor failure where the owner premixed. I'm just curious if they are out there.

expo's engine was more a bearing issue though, and if we wanted to delve into semantics, it didn't actually fail, he decided to rebuild it early.

I don't believe they did so at every fill up. I premix on EVERY tank with Protek R.
