Premixing Options

Dear All,

I am located in Pakistan, and the average temp here in daytime nowadays is 100 F to 110 F (around 40 C).

So heat is a major concern here, and I would like to take all steps possible to make sure my engine stays intact.

I was reading up on how premixing is helpful with engine life, and went out in search for 2 stroke oils, and only found two in the market.

One is from shell - Shell Advance 2 Stroke Engine Oil (link below) and one from a local company (PSO)

http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?...t_ga_2101.html

Has anyone used this for premixing ? Should i try it ? Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would suggest searching through the main Premix thread. There are lots of suggestions.

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/gas-oil-premix-thread-99636/

The one thing to note is that premix may help with lubrication, but you still have to deal with the heat. You may want to look into an improved radiator and oil cooling.

Search the Tech Garage and DIY forums for "cooling" to see what comes up. There are lots of useful posts that may point you in the right direction.

What grade of oil are you running in the car? I would recommend 10w40 or maybe 20w50.

Premix WILL help with engine lubrication(apex) but as for cooling will not help. Like said above a radiator and better/more oil cooling will help with the heat issue

as for that premix I have not used it but it looks to be ok....I know some users of premix on her order some online in cases but I'm not sure how that works for you over there!

! Do not use that stuff!

You can only use synthetic premix!

gX1,

if you are to premix two major points..

1 find a synthetic 2 stroke oil.
2 mix it with gas before you dump it in the tank..

that will go a long way..

if you can get this, it is a very good choice..

Idemitsu Racing Rotary Fuel Lube (Premix) - Synthetic Blend

also change the oil in the motor often..

Thanks for the suggestions on the premixing. I will try and get a premix oil imported here, lets see how that goes.

Any suggestions on which radiator is best ? BHR, Koyo or RE-medy?

Also, should i get a 2nd oil cooler ? : http://www.mazmart.com/ItemDetail.aspx?id=317

BHR is made by Griffin. Very famous Radiator maker. They usually do Rads for High HP muscle cars. CRH asked Griffin to have less fins for more efficient air flowing. Perfect fitment.

Re-Medy is made by Ron Davis. another famous Radiator maker. same type as Griffin. Also this radiator is the same as Mazda's competition Radiator. Perfect Fitment.

Koyo? Well, if you have a Race car with almost nothing blocking behind the rad. Then its a good choice. For Stock cars. nope. Dont get it.

I found a (Honda Racing hp2 2-stroke premix oil) at the local Honda shop, dirt bike forums say it burns super clean. Does this meet the right specs for premixing my rx8?

Thanks for the advice!

You should NOT be using ANY Marine Type 2 stroke oils meant for Outboard motors or Boats as a pre-mix for your rotary..

Use basically anything for 2 stroke engines apart from Marine.

Have you got access to Motul products? the 600 (dicontinued?) and the 700 are pretty good premix 2stroke oils. I love them.
As long as it is not a marine or aviation oil for constant rpm operation then you will be fine.
Avoid the castrol TTS if you can, that oil really produces loads of deposits.

Keep these DIY in mind too, they are great:

Replacing the front plastic grille with a real one will help, i did replace the 2 exhaust fake grilles as well and they help with trunk temperatures a bit
