Problem with my RX8
Hi guys, new to the board just bought a 2004 RX8, winning blue, automatic with everything except navi, anyways i got it in florida, just got its 30k service done, was told everything is great with the car/engine. Drove it to colorado, where i just got stationed here at Ft Carson. Anyways suddenly the car is acting up, like it sounds like it can't breathe, and it will stall out at lights in town and also when i turn it back on and try to drive, there is like no power, it just gradually speeds up and then it feels like it wont shift gears and makes a funny noise when i keep my foot on the pedal, really weird. ANyways i brought it to the dealership here and the guy didn't look at it and said that its from the evevation here and that the cars sensors need time to adjust, sounded strange but i was like ok, its been 10 days and the car still doing it, Any suggestions, i want to bring it back to the dealership tommarow. Btw i got the 30k service done at about 36k and now its at 39k. Thanks for your input

Welcome to Colorado, elevation is a killer on your horsepower.
EDIT: Bring your car to Motor City, I can't remember the exact name but its the only Mazda dealer there. They did work on my car once and did a very good job and covered some parts that they didn't have to cover.

The Catalytic Convertor, or CAT, can be damaged by excess fuel dumping into the exhaust system and igniting on the front of it. If that filter starts to crumble it will block up and your car will eventually act like someone jammed a banana or a potato into the exhaust pipe(s). Typically, the phenomenon starts slow, but becomes steadily worse. First you just feel a slight lack of power, then eventually you can barely climb moderate grades on the way to the dealership. If your Mazda dealer says he's never inspected or replaced an RX-8 CAT then he's lying.
