Problems using my remote key to open or close
#3
No the battery of the control is new, and my second control is working fine too even have the plastics since when i bought the car.
I test and the battery is working fine , when you press open and close its works the problems is that if you are not close to the car isnt work. Also i have to press 2 o 3 times to work.

Probably not much help, but after one of my keys went through the laundry wash, It has acted the same as you describe. It will still work but only once it is right next to the car. Perhaps your key got wet?

I'm sure this won't help your frustration any Harvis, but I'm in the same boat you are with no answers about a "sending unit" going bad. My two original remotes stopped working completely, the Mazda mechanic told me I needed a new remote. I purchased a new remote, and it did not work either. Took it to a different Mazda mechanic, and even after telling him I tried a new remote, he tells me I need a new remote. Go figure.
I've searched and searched for some info on a sending unit in the car, and if it can be replaced, but I can't find anything yet.

Harvis and 7andan8, what years are your RX-8s?
If you have a 2004, then LUCK is on your side. Ditch the keychain FOB, I would suggest you consider the switchblade FOB; the dealer can tinker with both FOBs by using their M-MDS but you will have better luck and pay less reading the threads below if you can follow simple instructions: DIY: Code Your Own Key Remote, Switchblade Key on an '04.

I remember reading your post in that thread Grace, and my curiousity is about why the switchblade key fob would work if the traditional key fob would not? I have a 2004 to answer your question. As I mentioned above, a THIRD key fob that I purchased didn't work. So you can imagine my skepticism over buying another one.
The reprogramming steps on my car seem to work all the way through the process until I get to the point of pressing a button on the key fob, the cars computer reacts as it should (unlocking/locking the doors).

Have to be an antenna or any module inside the car. Only work if im next to my driver door and have to be very close.

I believe that the receiving antenna are distributed around the car and if one go's bad it really screws with things. Now I just need to remember where I read that?

I got news , my passenger door was failing when i press lock, the entire car locks well but the passnger was failing. for about a month i was closing my car without knowing that my passanger door wasnt closing. .
The dealer will fix the door changing the door lock machine or whatever it pull the lock. i will have to pay about 100us , very expensive but at least they will fix that pain in the ***.
Thanks everyone for the help you gave me !

It just lead me to believe that you will need the dealer use an M-MDS(Mazda Modular Diagnostic System) if you still want to use the 2004 FOB and have had no success using the programming instruction. I haven't come across a different set of instructions, so, my best suggestion is to either replace it with a switchblade or seek a dealer that will reprogram your 2004-keychain FOB and pay a $100 or more to use that diagnostic device.
