putting seafoam in the oil

I'm about to seafoam for the third time and in my boredom i decided to read the can. It said I could add it to the oil and clean out some gunk that way anyone think this is a bad idea with the rotary. I'll only be leaving it in for a week as i'll be doing a full oil change and switching to royal purple with the sohn opm adapter injecting clean oil. Just figured i'll try and get as much eww out as possible. I'll also still be injecing the seafoam thru vacuum tonight.

I wouldn't see how it would hurt anything...but i'd prob just personally use it through vacuum...

My concern is that the seafoam will keep my engine from getting proper lubrication if it's in the oil itself. Just a thought ya know?

Shouldn't use any oil flush type additives to the oil...you can not get them all out by doing an oil change...even doing a couple back to back will still leave a significant amount of the additive in the residual oil

putting in the oil is more a piston thing.. just do regular changes and you wont need a cleaner.

^i think he is talking about that since our oil is used inside the combustion chamber that it's not a good idea since it may not give proper lube to teh rotor housing and side/apex seals..

if the oil sucks, it doesnt matter what u put into it, it will still suck.

all motor oil has certain amount of cleaning agents in it already. there is no point of putting seafoam or anything like it in there.

Just use quality and heavier than 5w20 oil, change it regularly, use premix in your gas. you are mostly ok.

Just remind you all kinds of motor oil and gasoline has cleaning agents in them.

Im not saying its a good idea to put seafoam into your motor oil tho, IMO thats just a waste of money and it will NOT improve anything.

I would not suggest putting seafoam into your motor oil. As you stated, the properties of seafoam cause oil to be stripped from surfaces they are protecting which will cause damage to the motor.

This is why Mazda increases OMP input when using seafoam during their decarb process. They want to ensure there's still lubrication. I used a max oil accessPORT flash where I cranked the OMP to 60 when I decarbed my motor.

As nycgps stated, both gasoline and oil have cleaning agents in them.
