question about diy exhaust
hi everyone i've had my 8 for a little over 2 months now and i love it i'm a tech at a ford dealership but i'm completly new the the world of the rotary and i'm really wanting to do some exhaust work to it i don't have the extra cash to drop on a full system right now but i have a magna flow high flow performance muffler that i picked up for next to nothing a while back and i'm thinking of cutting the stock muffler out and replacing it with the magna flow the muffler itself resembles a glasspack and i've read on here that most aftermarket mufflers breakdown under the heat of the rotary i'm planning on leaving the stock cats on for now and the muffler is made of fairly thick gauge metal and with the straight through design i think it would hold up until i can save enough pennies to get a real exhaust system i'm just wondering if anyone has any idea of how loud this may be i know it will be considerably louder i just don't want it to be deafening thanks for the feedback

If all you're worried about is how loud it would be you should be fine. It doesn't get too loud until you take out the cat. Now how good it will sound I have no idea. If your only changing that catback then you are wanting a good sound and not any HP gains so it will take trial and error to get a good sounding custom set up. If you can get it to sound the way you like power to you! and post a video.
