Question for MazdaSpeed Cold Air Intake owners
My recently purchased 05 Shinka has a MazdaSpeed CAI installed and I was wondering how often the air filter needs to be changed.
Is this one of those that can be cleaned and re-used?
If I do change it, what do you guys recommend?

I clean mine every 10k, its a dry filter so dont use the K&N oil.
I also clean the pipe itself every other oil change, this gives a chance to see if the screens have dislodged. It is also a good time to clean the MAF sensor.

You can use K&N's filter cleaner to clean it, spray the solution to the "INSIDE" of the filter, let it soak for maybe 10-15 minutes. Then rinse it with tap water from the INSIDE until you cant see any oily residue on the water.
then just let it dry, I usually leave it on my Home Air Filter, it dries them up nice and fast.

I usually buy the cleaner from my dealer once a year. You need two large buckets from home depot and a couple hours of time. It's two bottles and you use both of them.
It involves taking off the front bumper but after you've done it once you can take off the front bumper in 10 minutes every other time.
The reason it takes a few hours is for drying time to the filter, I've been able to speed this up by putting my filter in my front load dryer sitting on the sweater rack and turning it on it's lowest heat setting. I would suggest doing this when the wife/girlfriend is not home to avoid any "@#&*^@#&" moments.

It's a bit of an adventure the first time you remove the bumper, but once you've done it thereafter you can do it in your sleep and rather quickly. Just mind the foglight connectors and of course first remove the side marker lights (corners). Good DIY's here.

btw: I thought you could reach the MS filter, albeit with some difficulty, w/o bumper removal?

you can reach the filter by unscrewing the undertray and reaching up from under the car. You would need to jack up the car, especially if it's lowered. Time to jack up car >/= taking off the front bumper. With the bumper off it also gives you a chance to inspect everything and clean out any leaves and junk that's back there.
