A question on the transmission.

A question on the transmission.
Hi, I am new to the forum. Hello to everybody.
I have my 8 for almost one year. I have a question regarding the transmission. When the car is stopped, if I step on the clutch and shift into 1st at once, I always hear a crank noise (can't locate where it comes from but it's under the car). On the other hand if I step on the clutch for at least 3 sec then shift into 1st, there will be no crank noise. I have had this noise since day one I got the car. Is there a problem on my transmission or clutch? Or it is normal? Should I take it back to the dealer?

Thanks for all replies. Sorry I didn't say it clear.
First this only happens when the car is stopped - in most case start moving from traffic lights. And actually it is not a real loud cranking noise. When I step on the clutch and shift into 1st gear fast, the car shakes that it feels the engine is loaded all the sudden. But what can load the engine while I still haven't released the clutch? If I step on the clutch for long enough - like 3 secs, this shaking won't happen. What puzzle me is this "something" which loads the engine only from shift from neutral to 1st with the clutch pressed down all the time.
Again, any opinion is appreciated.

Is your clutch disengaging completely? Might need adjusting...or bleeding.
That's the first thing I'd check
After that there is a long list of transmission issues that wouldn't be so fun

Between having a whisper quiet engine and a tranny that is the loudest I've ever heard, you tend to notice what is going on in there.
At idle with the clutch out in neutral, you'll hear the transmission turning, step on the clutch and the tranny will wind down and stop, this takes about 3 seconds to happen. So... if you're pushing it into gear as you're pressing the clutch then you're meshing gears as everything is in movement, that will give the sound you're talking about. If you wait the 3 seconds you're meshing gears that aren't moving at all and you won't get more than the sound of the gears sliding and clicking into place.
So the sound issue I would call normal, but the shuddering is definately not normal and you should take it in to be checked out. I agree that the clutch might be doing something weird
