questions about 2004 to 2011 engine switch..

hey guys, i have a question:

i have a 2004 rx8,i want to switch the engine for a 2011 rx8 engine.

would the 2011 engine fit just fine ?

Plenty of reasons EricB.

xxrx8xx04:
It will physically fit. However, there are quite a few changes, including the ECU, the oil injection lines, the oil metering pump, etc... that will add quite a bit of work and lots of money on top. Be prepared to spend $5k+ on top of the price of the engine.

well i want to change it because im having engine and transmission problems,and im just wondering if the transmission and engine would fit fine

Other than the wiring changing a bit on the transmission, the transmission is a direct swap. The engine most certainly isn't, due to everything else you need to update.

Well if he wanted to do it for an updated engine, its kind of pricey.

Since his engine is going out, its not too bad but its still cheaper to rebuild/use another s1 motor.

If i was swapping a different engine it would be a 13b, something that makes power.

By the time you finished, I bet you'd find it's easier and cheaper to just sell your current 8 and buy a newer one.
