R3 Suspension Specs Question
Moved from "Aftermarket Performance Modifications" section;
I recently replaced my 05 gt with an R3.
I am trying to understand just what is different in the suspension of the car. I know that it has foam filled cross members and Bilstein hd/b6 shocks. However I am not clear on the sway and springs. [I tried searching but could not find conclusive data]
Car and Driver (and others) indicated that the car has stiffer springs in addition to the shocks. Other sources state that only the shocks have been changed. Furthermore some forums members who have taken of the sways seem to notice that they are different from the std sport on 04-08.
When I bought the car, the dealer indicated that both shocks and springs were changed and I was under the impression that the car had the same Prodrive developed suspension used on the PZ, UK edition (not sure what it was called over here). After all why would Mazda spend more money on development when they already previously enlisted the help of Prodrive to tune the suspension.
If anyone has specific knowledge of just what was changed and the specs for the springs and sways that info would be greatly helpful.
On a different issue: The reason I am interested in this is mostly for track purposes.
My 05 spend a decent amount of time on the track (mostly Mosport). I had RB sways on the car (otherwise stock suspension) and am now considering changing the sways on the R3 as well. I did not get a chance to take it out yet but I am thinking that the RB sways may be a bit much for this model, thoughts from knowledgeable people are welcome. I was thinking about adjustable bars from Whiteline.
