But, speaking of putting odd things into a cooling system, back in the 30s racer Herk Edwards used to use salt water as a coolant in his Ford stock car. Ford V8s tended to overheat. Between the salt water, careful driving technique, and a trick oversize radiator that slipped past tech inspection, he avoided overheating.
He did drain and flush with regular water after each race. He had to. That Prestone treatment wasn't available back then.

Well, yeah ... none of our cars are old enough to do that. but Im just *kinda* wondering that if stuff like prestons cleaner will damage anything on our engine, I read some of its specs it seems that it shouldnt be a problem, but I just want to make sure.
NOT TO MENTION, from what I've googled, it seems that these stuff never really *worked* for *a lot of people*. so ... I have 2 bottles in the basement collecting dust ... I kinda want to use it

Don't use it just because you found it in your basement. What would you do if you found a bottle of rat poison? Or a VW Beetle?
I suggest (seriously) that you clean the dust off and donate the stuff to the Salvation Army or similar organization. They'll sell them for a buck or two to someone trying to squeeze more life out of an old heap. And the money will feed a hungry person.
And your 8 will continue to thrive on its fill of FL-22.

I cant stop laughing Im sorry.
Hey if it really happens ... I can always use it to give it to my cousin, she just made it into med school I think its a pretty good reward, right ?
As for Rat poison, good god I dont have a pest problem anymore. Last time I had a rat was like 2 yrs ago and nothing a glue trap cant fix (and I Brutally end its life ... lets not get into that for now )
I donate stuff all the time, like money(!!), clothes, etc. and I dont think they really want my bottle of *god knows how old* prestone cleaner.
I never had FL-22 in my car

Okay, I searched - 60k is the service schedule recommended change for radiator flush and refill.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
If your 8 has FL22, it's supposed to be good for around 100k miles, right?
Some people here flush and refill their radiators every two years.
Some of this is contradictory.
What am I missing?

There is nothing *magical* about FL22, its just an extended premix coolant @ 45/55 ratio(water/anti-freeze)
You can get these kind of extended coolant pretty much everywhere. its just that they're all 50/50. Some even said its good till 150K miles. but do you actually trust their words ?
I just drain and fill it at least once a year.
