Doesn't that design hang the filter down kinda low? If so, be VERY careful. Even if you drive slowly into some water, some other moron in a SUV or jacked up pickup might come barrelling along and push a wake of water up into it.

Years ago, a friend of mine installed a cold air intake on a Mustang GT. This thing had a scoop that bolted on to the bottom of the front bumper, just in front of the passenger front wheel. Well, as much as it rains in Beaumont, Tx, you can pretty much guess what happened. He ingested some water due to someone kicking up a wake of water and he lost his engine.

Might have been a blessing though, cause he used that incident as an excuse to buy a crate 350 hp motor from DSS!

it's pretty hard to hydralock a rotary engine. Rx-7 guys use distilled water to decarbonize engines. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's less of a concern than for a piston engine. Water might mess up your MAF though.

there is no effect with rain, washing the car, etc, the only problem you will have is if you drive into a puddle of about 12" deep. i have had mine on my 8 since last september.

Not true, when rain bounces off the pavement it will soak the filter. You are choking the car with a wet filter.

If you still have problems check the filter to see how wet it is. Then wait till it dries out or dry it yourself.

Unless your reving the crap out of your motor I dont think any water would ever make it up the pipe far enough to do damge. Water is heavy and harder to move then air, even if some mist made it up, most motors can burn up small amounts of water with out any problems.

People have been running arond forever in civic's with the cold air pipes draggin on the floor. They dont hydro lock the motor unless the stick the whole filter under the water

thats wat i thought also, b4 i was going to take off the filter to dry it off, i stuck my hand down n touched the filter, it wasnt that wet, but it was a lil moist, so i took her out for a drive, OMG the idle is gone, normal idle again, came home n decided maybe im bein very **** bout this lol.
