PA The RATE MY SPARK PLUGS thread.

I guess everyone can play along.

These have ~25k on them and about 3-4 years old. Grandma style driven for the most part (99% shifts were done below 4000rpm, 3200 for the most part). 93 octane only and premixed for the past 7,000 miles or so. Sat for the past 3 months in the winter.

Front leading and trailing

Rear leading and trailing. Excuse the bottom of the pic, my Android decided to take a dump

60K as far as I can tell these are original, at least I do not have a previous receipt for plugs from the original owner (I have every other receipt, even for every quart of oil he added from day 1)

How do these look? Not exactly sure how many miles are on them but the car has 34k now. Mazda said these were changed when the msp16 flash was done sometime in 08. Im guessing they have 15-20k miles on them.

OP, now this thread is gold, I mean iridium! Ha!

My 07 6spd auto has about the same miles, time, and rpm's since most of mine is at 2700 rpm on the road; no stop and go.

I've never taken them out, but I did put on the BHR coils, and it runs great.

Your photo clearly shows that the electrodes are firing well, and they all have some of that sand colored deposits, but I don't have a new one in front of me to compare to see how much electrode has eroded off to make gap bigger.

I've seem several plugs on here where the center electrode was noticably shorter, so I'd add to your question, and ask "Does anyone know the approx. maximum gap the plug can have and not misfire"?

We can't bend the top down like other plugs, because I hear that's asking for trouble.
