REALLY dumb but important question
So I've realized that from day 1, my windshield wipers have been garbage...it was only recently when I drove for 4 hours through heavy rain when I realized that they were actually DANGEROUS. I couldn't see a thing out the drivers side because they just didn't wipe very well (and left a huge streak down the middle that made it worse). So does anyone have suggestions for a good brand of windshield wipers? I really wanna get this fixed before winter rolls around.

Charles found a great set of wipers that are made by PIAA that the team has been running here in Arizona. Since it only rains a few times a year often your blades will crack and dry out from the sun so by the time you use them they are trash.
The PIAA wipers have a silicone coating that you actually break-in during installation. The coating helps provide a rain-x like effect and it actually works well. The blades are pretty expensive (north of $30 for a set) but I'll probably end up getting another set. Best part is they have held up nicely to the Arizona summer.

any good quality blade will work, go to your local autoparts store and have a look around. wipers are one of those things that are pretty easy. more money usually = better blades

Trico is the classic aftermarket brand, and they're very good quality, but I rarely see those these days. Low end stores tend to have Anco, which are crap. If that's all you see at Wal-mart go elsewhere.
I've always been happy with OEM blades from a dealer.

Really? when I worked at an auto parts store Trico was considered the low-end brand...but I guess they are a bit low end compared to Bosch and PIAA which were the only others we sold.

Yep, Rain-x is a good thing to have.
And, I just had to change mine out, we actually have 2 different sizes on our car. Ones a 19" and the other is a 20"(I think). Can't remember witch is witch. But, just do a quick measurement. If you don't have a tape measure, then take a piece of string, and just cut it to the same size as your wiper.

Agreed Anco are definitely crap. I got some last year because that was all they had where I stopped. I should have kept on going. The things streaked from day 1. Pretty bad if you can't make a wiper that doesn't work when it's brand new.

Im on my 3rd re-fills (yeah, u can buy refills)
the only problem I see with this is that, if you get the "carbon fiber LOOKING one", you really need to wax the part every so often, or else its gonna fade ...
the blade itself is GOOOOOOOOD
I use "regular" stuff like Rain-X and Bosch for my other cars tho. cuz I can get them "really cheap", so I was like meh why not.
