reassembly after intake woes

wasn't sure what else to put in the title lol. I digress... just stripped down my 8 to install a new AEM CAI, and I thought I was pissed at all the plastic push fastener whatever the hell you wanna call 'em thingies commin out, but those lil ***** won't go back in for anything. do I have to go buy a bunch of new ones to get my car put back together, or is there a trick to it I'm missing? this is my first time modding any car at all, and whilst it's fun, I'm at a loss for what to do now >.<

make sure the inner pin of the fastener is either all the way back.. or just out completely.

tried both ways, I just can not get those lil things to go back in the holes... which is weird since the long parts fit in just fine by themselves, and the wide part should be able to close to the same diameter as the long part

You 100% sure you aren't trying to put the entire piece in with the center piece inside the wide part?

Try putting the "wide part", the outter section, in the holes first, then put the longer, center piece in.

Congrats on the first mod btw!

ok, I was stupid lol. there were two types of push-type fasteners, I forgot about the second one. everything fit back together (well, 80-90% of the fasteners are in place anyways) and I made go vroom.... only vroom because there's a car behind me and I can't get out to go zoom zoom. all in all, I wrecked my hands (for a computer scientist, that's major), and I loved every second of it. I wanna do it again! I'll see if I can't upload some pics I took on my phone of the surgery.

edit: oh, my TCS Off light is flashing as well, that supposed to happen with this sort of install or should I be lookin around for somethin to fix?

DIY's are addicting! Next thing should be catback exhaust, a bit easier but fun, nonetheless.

Glad you figured it out!

Your TSC may flash then airbag light come on for the first drive cycle. After that it should be off/gone.
