Redline at fuel cut-off....

Hi guys,

I was going for a drive with my buddy and when shifting from second gear to third gear, I didn't hear the buzzer as my windows were down, and I looked down and the needle hit 10,000 rpm (almost I think), and jerked back as I hit fuel cutoff, and I drove normally after that. I've never hit fuel cutoff before. Do you think that there might be any problems, hence should I get it checked out, or any of you guys hit fuel cutoff before?

Thanks and God bless you guys!

Ben.

Nothing will go wrong. Fuel limiter is there to protect your leg and/or life. Not the engine.

Cuz if it spins too fast, the flywheel might come off and take your leg/life with it.

So you're telling me that nothing is wrong with hitting fuel cutoff? And I don't have to get it checked out by Mazda?

A fuel cut off is just that. It stops fuel from going into the engine. If you were to run your car out of gas you wouldn't take it to Mazda so why would you do it for this? Im sure your engine isn't very happy about the lack of fuel but no damage was done. It isn't like overrevving a piston engine.
