remote does not work !?!?@#?!?#

Alright so both my car remotes died a couple of months ago, I just figured it was the battery. So today I finally got a new battery, and I installed it and placed it correctly; but **** still doesn't work. Anyone know why? Do I need to take the remote to Mazda for something?

My remote on my '04 stopped working a couple months ago too. It was the remote that had died. I tried changing the battery and nothing.

I bought the '05 and up switchblade remote off ebay.. it's only 50 bucks shipped or so with a blank. Search and you can find the programming procedure.. it's very simple. Then just have a locksmith cut the key and you can program the key yourself too. No need to go to the dealer.

After the battery dies you have to reprogram it.

No you don't. My battery had fallen out plenty of times when it was working and I never had to reprogram it. It finally died and I tried reprogramming it at least 20 times before I bought the new one but the switchblade programmed on the first try.

I believe there is a small memory chip that retains the programing for a short time.

If you wait too long like two months, I believe you have to re-program it.
