Remote won't program

Remote won't program
So anyone know how I can test whether or not a switchblade style remote is working?
See this thread for some details.
I ordered the key off ebay, got a new blank key and got it cut. I programmed the key per the instructions no problem. The key will start the car etc. without issue.
However, the car won't recognize any signal from the switchblade remote as far as I can tell.
While programming the remotes the car accepts input from my two current remotes perfectly, but no matter what order I try to program the new remote, it never seems to register the signal.
When I press the buttons the light lights up in the center, so I don't think the battery is dead.
Anyone know what happens when the batteries die on these remotes, or know of a way to test whether or not it's broken?

did you also program the wireless part of the remote???? it is different than programing the key...
search you will find. i think it is turn the key from off to on three times then push the door light switch three times in a 24 sec period.
then push a button on the remote. worked fine for me, but make sure you have your hood shut.

was going to from o4 to 05. are the locks cycling as mentioned in the instructions????
the first time i tried i had the hood open and it would not work. also check to see if trunk is closed all the way.

Yeah, the locks cycle. Initially they do a lock/unlock. When I press one button twice on my old remotes they'll lock/unlock.
If I press one button twice on my 05 remote it does nothing no matter what part of the process I'm in. When I pull the 05 key out though the locks will lock/unlock/lock/unlock implying that it was in programming mode.
