ok i have been scrolling through my fsm to try and figure out how in the hell to remove the fuel pump. I see some kind of funky tool that mazda uses but i know there has to be a way to get this thing out. any diy suggestions?

Here is a post by staticlag that is pretty detailed:

This post should be added to the DIY section.

You can use a flat head screw driver and slowly hammer it out. but prepare as this way it might break some tabs on the cap. So buy a new one and replace it.

Or you can get Mazda's tool, which cost 200 something bux.

Or you can buy a new cap, bring it over to some iron/welder shop and ask them to make a tool out of it. usually this could be done for around 50-70 bux.
