Replacement for incompetent gas cap?
I swear this dumb gas cap will not stay on. Every time I screw it on 10 turns it'll just fall off with 1 tiny touch. It seems like the cap only takes half a turn to screw on. Is there anything more competent? Also.. I bet this is one of the many causes of our low miles per gallon!!! The gas cap is stealing our gas!!

If you have not had a CEL then your gas cap is fine.It is only supposed to take a turn to put on.There is a system in your car which checks for leakage in the evaporative emissions system,so you will know when your gas cap is leaking

Well heres the thing, my car threw a CEL and I went to the dealer. They told me to give it an additional 5 turns to make sure it is on. I don't think there is a difference between 1 turn or 100 turns to be frank.

I concur.
Stop abuseing the cap. When you hear the click that is an internal ratchet
that engages when you reach optimum torque (ftlbs.) on the cap.
This is tight enough. Extra turns do nothing to tighten the cap more,,just to wear out the ratcheting system.
CLICK,, CLICK.
