The right part matters(starter)
I am looking to buy a new starter for my rx8 which has crapped out on me and has been giving me trouble for a while now. Does anyone know of a good website or can give me a link to one I can buy,.

If you want to go genuine form a Mazda Dealer..these are the following Modified Reman Starters from Mazda Dealers in the US..
Series 1 RX-8 2004-2008
N3H1-18-400 R0A Manual Trans
N3H2-18-400 R0B Auto Trans
Both are $265.52 from..($75.00 core return) if you order on-line, ask for Jason, he will adjust Shipping Charge

I'm about to get a new one too. I noticed that Mazmart lists a brand new part, I'm going to call them pretty soon to see they have them in stock. Costs more, but I don't like remans... just a personal thing.

Well, a re-manufacture one should always be as good if not better than the original OE spec. a "rebuild" one on the other hand, might not be a good choice.

New OEM (Mitsubishi) Starters ARE still made and available...depends on which country you live in.
As a Distributor MNAO have opted to go for Reman-Rebuilt ones.
Frankly, there is nothing wrong with them and a MNAO warranty will still apply, provided it is installed by a Mazda dealer (I think it is their Parts Warranty Policy like MA).
With all new models after a while they offer RO units with a core return, so in some cases you get the OEM Original, but are charged a Core so you return your old starter, that way MNAO build up stock's of Reman units...then offer RO's at a cheaper price.
In the case of the RX-8 new units have well and truly been used up...Mazmart have a new OEM instock.
Having said that, I also believe MNAO may still have OEM "Genuine" if you really want one...but at a higher price..you have to make enquiries.

People are paying a lot less for them at the auto parts store and have also been satisfied, you can buy six of them for what the dealer will charge for one installed - try searching before posting

^ what he said.
a starter is a starter, an alternator is an alternator, a battery is a battery. provided they fit the application you need them to and meet or exceed the oem specs you don't need anything special.
