RP SUPERCAT : emissions
Hey guys,
i purchased the RP supercat a bit ago, and at that time, the site said that the supercat should pass emissions.. blah blah blah
i'm having trouble accessing the site, and i'm in NY, so i'm wondering, will the RP SUPERCAT pass the emissions test?

You will have to have NY test it to find out but on a new car why do you have to?
RP is located in Texas so one would not expect them to care about NY state. They also have this on their site http://rx7.com/store/rx8/rx8exhaust.html#supercat
"Because this is a new design, CARB and Federal emissions certificate is pending. This is a perfectly street-able cat system but is for off-road use only"
Which means your on your own. I wouldn't say anything when/ if you get it inspected.

as long as it doesnt' throw a cel you shoudl be fine...nor,mally for emmisions they just plug into your OBD II port and the car will tell them if it passes or not..hehe so as long as your 8 is happy no worries

It's just a plug-in. I just had mine done, I thought they were gonna take a while, but they guy just sat in the car and presto, done. Jaehyun if all comes to worse, there are other ways *whistle* :D

Jaehyun here's the website of what they do for the NYS inspection:
http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm
http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/vehsafe.htm#einspect
From the quick/lazy reading I did, it seems that they dont "sniff", just look :p

so long as you don't have a cel, thats all that matters. take it to your dealer and they will plug into the computer to do the test. You might want to get a canscan or scanalyzier just to make sure your cat is meeting all the cars computer tests, but it should be a non issue. I'm fairly certain it will also pass a sniffer test.

Im in NYC and I found some of the *inspection* is pretty funny, like this one
Each Tire (Except spare)
* Tread depth - must be at least 2/32 inch when measured in two adjacent major tread grooves showing the most wear.
* Tire condition - check for any fabric break or cut over 1 inch, visible bumps, bulges or knots, and any restricted use designation on the tire.
LOL, I've seen so many *treadless* tires running around with brand new Inspection stickers.
