Running in - does the car 'help'?
I've searched a few times and can't find anything, so sorry if this is duplicated.
I understand the importance of running in the rotary engine - especially when so many people say "Modern cars don't need running in" and some dealers *looks in Volvo's direction* seem to consider caning the nuts off a new car to be a way to make sure it blows up... I mean, reaches the best performance early.
I read something which seemed to suggest the RX's ECU enforces a sort of running in period for 600 miles - is that true? I'm basically trying to decide if I want to get a train to the dealer (300 miles away) to collect my RX or let their driver deliver the car to me (which is included in the deal, after all).
How much damage could be done by an unsympathetic driver?

Protection.....
One of the most destructive things you can do with a new engine is high revving when stone cold - the computer won't let you do that, it imposes a 3500rpm limit that gradually rises as the engine warms.

Right, that answers the actual question (though searching on breakin did get me the results, no-one had offered any information about ECU behaviour).
As far as I can tell I'm being quite paranoid about it really. I can't do the engine rebuild scheme oil changes, the car has to do a 300 mile motorway drive to get here, and I only have it for 2 years/20,000 miles. So I should be less worried. I expect the dealer will treat it alright anyway, being a 190 it is probably a little harder to be tempted to exceed 6K when delivering someone's car on a crowded British motorway :D
