RX8 Gear Worksheet

Hey gang, in my quest to better understand manual shifting, and being a numbers kind of guy, I put together this spreadsheet that I think may be useful to others.

When you first open the file, it is set to a factory RX8, with accurate (hopefully) gear box ratios and stock tires.

The neat thing about this is that you can look at your RPM / MPH outputs if you're thinking about dropping in a 4.777 differential instead of the stock 4.444 or if you're wanting bigger tires. The program will adjust automatically based on what you put in. You can only adjust what is in yellow. The bottom of the grids have an open line where you can put your own numbers in if you don't like the 5mph / 500rpm increments. Also, for the RPM grid, it only displays outputs that are between 2000 and 9000 rpm. No sense in displaying anything else. (In case you're wondering... going 100mph in 1st gear in an RX8 would require 21,000rpm... maybe we'll get that in the next rotary...)

To those wihout 8's, just put in your info and it'll adjust accordingly, except for the RPM limits. PM me if you need help finding your gear ratios.

Hope this helps and let me know if I can improve this.

Updated the sheet to adjust for KPH. I'm not familiar with the numbers, so if it looks off Mendossa, let me know.

I also expanded the MPH limit from 185 to 225... don't know why someone would need that info... lol

It looks pretty good, but a little generous. From my experience 1st ends at 62-64 (9krpm), 2nd around 102, 3rd about 142-145.

But it's pretty close and to be honest when I'm redlining those 3 gears in a row, I'm looking at the road lol :P
